13th EBC Annual General Meeting

13th EBC Annual General Meeting was held in Cannes (France)

On June 10-11 2010. The AGM brought together more than 200 representatives of 80 companies and organizations in the OSCE area. The forum took stock of the EBC activities in 2009, elected the Presiding Committee and took decisions on a number of issues vital for the association. In the framework of the EBC General Meeting a conference on “Natural Gas – the Energy of the 21st Century” was moderated by Marcel Kramer, CEO of Gasunie. Speakers in this session were among others Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Management Committee of Gazprom, Rainer Seele, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Wintershall, Jochen Weise, Member of the Executive Board of E.ON Ruhrgas and Arnaud Breuillac, Exploration & Production Senior Vice-President, TOTAL. more

Working Group Energy

More than 50 representatives of EBC member companies got together for the Working Group Meeting on June 11, 2010. Presentations were given by U. Fip, E.ON Ruhrgas; V. Rusakova, Gazprom; K. von Oldenburg, E.ON Földgáz Trade and A. Zimmermann, EGL. Agenda items were (i) Russian Gas Projects, (ii) Hugarian gas market and (iii) the TAP pipeline project. The presentations were followed by a very active discussion. more

The EBC European Business Congress e.V. is an International non-governmental- non-profit Organisation (NGNPO), founded in December 1997 in Bonn, Germany. As of April 2009 the EBC has 117 members from 23 OSCE states. Statutory bodies of the EBC are the General Assembly, the Presiding Committee, the Board of Directors and the Secretariat. The President of the EBC is Dr. Alexey Miller, OAO Gazprom. Vicepresident is Dr. Tessen von Heydebreck, Deutsche Bank AG.

The EBC-Objectives are:

  • Supporting the development of economic co-operation between and in OSCE-countries
  • Promoting economic development in OSCE-countries
  • Promoting a sustainable dialogue between politics and private business

These objectives will be achieved and especially implemented by

  • open and trustful discussion of actual challenges and problems of common interest in the various Working Committees and subsequent formulation of practical solutions
  • passing such results as recommendations on to governments and responsible authorities in OSCE-countries as well as to other NGOs
  • promoting an efficient exchange of information between EBC and international organisations and fostering contacts inside the EBC and externally
  • promoting co-operation between companies and international organisations
  • organising and supporting conferences and seminars on actual entrepreneurial topics

The core activity of the EBC, which creates its high attractiveness for the members and which distinguishes the EBC as something unique, is to offer a platform for open discussion in the various Working Committees and Sub-Working Groups which convene approx. four times a year. To date 7 Working Committees have been formed.
